Tourism Vancouver in partnership with SatSports and HTC has launched City Smart, the world's first completely interactive tourist and sporting event mobile application. The app includes location-based services (LBS) and street navigation.
The City Smart guide gives visitors updated live tourism and event information. Its navigation feature includes live traffic updates. The app was designed for HTC smartphones.
According to Walt Judas, VP of Visitor Services & Communications for Tourism Vancouver, the app is helping tourists and residents to find local information, taxi and limousine services, up-to-the minute road reports, and locations and access points for major venues.
Francois Gravel of HTC is confident that City Smart will change the way host cities interact with visitors and sports spectators. In Vancouver it has streamlined the city's interaction with tourists.
Additional features in the app include emergency service contacts and visitor centre locations.
