Germany's best-selling iPhone navigation app, with more than 150,000 sold, uses free maps from OpenStreetMap.
The app enables motorists and pedestrians to highlight issues and submit map changes or corrections, giving all users access to up-to-date maps with no update fee.
skobbler features include turn-by-turn GPS navigation, visual and voice-guided navigation, day and night display modes, 2.5D bird's eye view graphics, automatic continuation of navigation after incoming calls, pedestrian mode, ‘take me home' function, and bookmarks for favourite destinations.
skobbler's co-founder, Marcus Thielking, commented: "Why spend a fortune on a sat nav gadget when the power is already there in your iPhone?"
