Intersec launches LBS enabler for mobile operators
Intersec Geolocator IGLOO LBS enabler
Intersec Group, a French provider of new-generation telecommunications software for mobile and integrated operators, has released Geolocator IGLOO Version 1.1, a location-based services (LBS) enabler.

During third-party integrator benchmarks run in January, Intersec's proprietary QDB database handled up to 100 million subscribers while processing well over 100,000 events per second. The IGLOO LBS enabler runs in real time to keep all events in the cache memory of the database.

The design of the software enables the generation of push events for a range of mass-market, real-time uses. For example, mobile social network users can receive notifications when network friends are in the vicinity, and fleet owners can monitor deliveries or receive real-time messages while on the move.

The pull mechanisms in IGLOO can be customised for specific uses such as geofencing with notifications when children are safely back home, and mobile advertising making use of special promotional offers when shoppers enter a "hot zone" within a specified distance from a store.

IGLOO can even send a warning alert if the user is approaching or being approached by someone who has been ordered to comply with a restraining order.
