Ghosts Attack in LBS alternative reality
Ghosts Attack in LBS game
Tarver Games is getting ready to add apps to the world's somewhat thin list of location-based fantasy games. The company has announced a game studio to develop games for the iPhone, and its first major production, Ghosts Attack, is due for imminent release on Apple's app store.

Ghosts Attack is a location-based shooting game for the iPhone. It places the player in a fantasy combat arena determined by your real-world physical location. Players will be able to select from 17 different missions.

The game uses your location and Google Maps to automatically generate game environments on the screen. These settings mirror the real world. Thus Ghosts Attack is a kind of alternative reality game, since the theme of the game is based on rescuing scientists who have been sucked into a parallel world.

Tarver created its first game, a strategy title called Cold War, in April in order to understand how to make iPhone games. With Ghosts Attack, the company wanted to create something that takes advantage of the iPhone's location awareness .

It also uses the iPhone's touchscreen and accelerometer. The latter lets you control the action on the screen by tilting the phone.

Ghosts Attack will debut later this month on the iPhone, followed by the release of further episodes. Tarver is also working on a Facebook version of the game.
