Aloqa publishes multi-phone API
Aloqa channels
Mobile search and information company Aloqa has published a free API which enables developers to build Aloqa channels across all major smartphone platforms.

The Aloqa app lets smartphone users automatically receive information about friends, events and local offers based on their location without having to launch a browser or search application.

Now the Aloqa API provides websites and other content publishers with location-relevant content to deliver targeted information to mobile users. Any publisher with geo-spatial content can create a branded channel on Aloqa instead of having to build a full mobile application.

There is no cost to the publisher for designing, building, porting or maintaining an app across multiple platforms and devices. The Aloqa channel can reach users across all Aloqa-supported platforms.

For example, a publisher with content on things to do in Napa Valley can use Aloqa's API to create a "Napa Activities" channel simply by making content available as an RSS feed containing simple geo-tags. Once the channel is created, the publisher can then let users know how to find the channel on Aloqa.

The API contains a style guide to let publishers decide how they want their content to look and the types of actions they want their users to be able to take, such as redirection to the publisher's website, initiating a call, seeing the event on a map or recommending the content to friends.
